What a long-distance move from Allen includes
Champion Moving is a moving company at 550 S Watters Rd in Allen. A long-distance move means hours on the road, so the packing has to hold up: furniture padded or wrapped, boxes stacked tight, and the truck loaded so nothing shifts. Our own crew loads in Allen and unloads at the other end, so your things don’t change hands along the way.
We handle long-distance moves within Texas and out of state. The Texas rules for moves inside Texas are below, and the Texas moving rules guide explains them in full.
Pad-wrapped furniture
Moving blankets or stretch wrap on every large piece.
Packed tight to travel
Boxes and furniture loaded so the load does not shift on the road.
One crew, start to finish

Long-distance moving rules: written proposal and liability
On a long-distance move within Texas, the written proposal matters even more. Read it before loading.
| What you hear | What Texas says |
|---|---|
| 60 cents a pound is the standard coverage | Texas has no default. The proposal states the mover’s liability, if any, as agreed with you |
| Pay more or your things stay on the truck | Pay the maximum price on the contract and the mover must release your goods (§218.57(b)) |
| File a damage claim whenever you get to it | File within 90 days. The mover acknowledges it within 23 days and resolves it within 90 (§218.61) |
What sets the price on a long-distance move: how much is going, the distance, the access at each end, the crew size, packing, and anything added before loading. Get a free estimate and read the liability line before you sign.

Leaving Allen on moving day
Street loading starts at first light
Allen §9-227 bars a moving truck from standing on the street from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise, so street loading for an early start can begin no sooner than 30 minutes before sunrise.
No loading the night before
Commercial vehicles can't sit on a residential lot except while loading, so a loaded truck can't wait in your driveway overnight.
HOA rules vary by community, so check yours before move day. Allen move-day rules

Long-distance move questions in Allen
Do you do long-distance moves from Allen to other states?
Yes. Long-distance moving is one of our services, within Texas and out of state. A move out of state follows federal rules, not the Texas rules on this page. Call (214) 407-2684 with your Allen address, the destination and your date, and we will build the estimate from there.
Is 60 cents a pound the standard on a long-distance move from Allen?
Not in Texas. Texas has no default liability figure. The mover and the customer agree on it, and it can even be zero, so the written proposal has to state the mover’s liability for your goods, if any (43 TAC §218.56). 60 cents a pound is only one example of an agreed limit. Read that line before the truck is loaded in Allen.
What will I get in writing before a long-distance move from Allen?
Two documents. First, a written proposal that shows the maximum price, says whether it is binding or not-to-exceed, and states when and how payment is due and the mover’s liability for your goods, if any (43 TAC §218.56). Second, the TxDMV brochure “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move in Texas” (§218.55). Read both before the crew starts loading in Allen.
How long do I have to file a damage claim after a Texas move from Allen?
On a move within Texas, file the claim within 90 days. The mover has to acknowledge it within 23 days and resolve it within 90 days (43 TAC §218.61). TxDMV also offers mediation, with its own deadlines; the Texas moving rules guide lists them.
Can the truck be loaded the night before and parked at my Allen house?
No. Allen Code §9-227 lets a commercial truck, or one with more than two axles, stand on a public street only while it is being loaded or unloaded, and never from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise. There is no loading exception at night. Commercial vehicles also can’t sit on a residential lot except while loading, so we plan Allen street loading for daylight.
